Queenstown Airport recently completed its airside access project for the airports Air NZ passenger lounge. The project saw the construction of a lift pit and tower, new two-stop lift, and stairway within the existing departure lounge. This construction allows passengers to pass through security screening before entering the lounge, and to then exit the lounge directly into the boarding gate.
The project was challenging from a construction point of view as the lift tower and pit, and the new stair, were constructed entirely within the existing departure lounge, which was fully operational during construction.
Signal was Queenstown Airport Corporation’s project manager for the development, leading its design and construction. Signal also acted as Engineer to the Contract for the airport company.
