DCC KV3 Project
The Dunedin City Council engaged Signal to manage the third stage of its Kaikorai Valley wastewater renewals programme. This $7M project comprises the replacement of 1,000m of wastewater trunk main between School Street and Bishopscourt Ground. The replacement programme is complicated by the location of the trunk main in a planted reserve corridor and in close proximity to residential properties.
The project also included the construction of a new road culvert in School Street to mitigate flooding of residential properties in the area. The installation of the new culvert was complicated by the presence of a critical underground high voltage cable in School Street. To allow the construction of the culvert to go ahead, a steel protection structure for the cable was designed and constructed.
Signal has managed the council’s design consultants and budget and been responsible for significant stakeholder consultation on the project.
