The Gore District Council engaged Signal Management Group as project and construction manager for their new Multisports Complex.
Funded entirely from community sources, the $10.5M Multisports Complex was the first of it's kind in New Zealand and was planned to be constructed in three stages.
The $1.7M olympic sized ice rink was constructed by Ice Sports Southland. Home for the New Zealand Ice Figure Skating Championships, the new rink provided immediate growth of around 50% in seasonal patronage for Ice Sports Southland.
The $4.7M aquatic centre was the second stage of the Multisports Centre and is owned and operated by the Gore District Council.
The centre's main pool is 25m x 16m wide with a 29°C water temperature. The combined learners and leisure pool is kept at 32°C and has a walk in "beach" access at one end and a "tots" pool and recreational area for inflatable toys. There is also a hot water hydrotherapy / spa pool available.
The pool area offers seating for 200 spectators and public viewing with tables and chairs. A multipurpose meeting room with capacity for 60 people allows for functions and conferences. The Multisports Complex has also provided 77 car parks for patrons.
