Expanded Dunedin Airport Fire Station Underway

Signal has continued its long-standing relationship with Dunedin Airport following the successful completion of the airport’s Terminal Expansion project.

The airport fire station is now being overhauled to cater for new specialised $1.2 million fire trucks.

The new trucks replace old vehicles and have room for about 9000 litres of water, 1200 litres of foam and 250kg of dry powder.  They are powered by a 16-litre 700kW Volvo engine running to a Euro-5 emission standard.  The new appliances are bigger than previous appliances at 11.5m long and 3.6m wide.

The existing station is having a new, higher roof structure put in place and is being extended in two directions to increase capacity.  Signal is delivering the project using its Integrated Project and Construction Management methodology.
