Gore's brand new ambulance station building was recently formally declared open with a ceremony for St John staff, volunteers and the community.
St John decided to replace their existing building after a nationwide assessment of stations found deficiencies in the Gore station. Signal Management Group was commissioned by St John to manage the design and construction of the building. Signal has also managed the building of new stations in Queenstown and Wanaka.
St John Hokonui area chairwoman Karen Morris said the building's design and construction phase 'had gone very smoothly'.
The new station will comply with IL4 (importance level 4) standards, which deem an ambulance station to be essential to post-disaster recovery and require it to be able to continue to function after a disaster.
