Queenstown Airport recently completed its domestic lounge expansion project. The project saw the construction of a new glazed wall (with a new automated passenger non-return gate), expansion of passenger and non-passenger security screening, and an upgrade of the existing lounge toilets. A new landside food and beverage outlet was also created.
The project was challenging from a construction point of view as it was built entirely within the existing departure lounge, which was fully operational at all times during construction.
Signal was Queenstown Airport Corporation’s project manager for the development, leading its design and construction. Signal also acted as Engineer to the Contract for the airport company.
